You see a sphere (a ball) but the upper semicircular space is blank, that is as white as the background. Illusory contours involve modal completion of the shape. Modal completion refers to such perceptual “filling-in” of object borders that are accompanied by concurrent brightness enhancement, in turn termed illusory contours.

He is known for his mind-bending optical illusions and surreal photographs that challenge viewers' perceptions. He has authored highly acclaimed books on optical illusions and visual perception, making him an expert in the field. Sarcone uses different media to express his unique concepts, adding depth to his art, which makes his pieces highly valued additions to any collection. His work has been showcased in exhibitions and galleries worldwide, and he currently resides in Italy.
